On Assignment...for the Northwest Herald?
It looks like our local paper is going to run a carbon challenge for the month of October. My friend Peter & I have had two meetings so far, and I have my first ever newspaper assignment!
The assignment (due by this Friday) is to draft 31 carbon cutting "tips" and or "facts" so that the project editor can start fact checking.
For me, this is like a dream. It combines my interest in writing with my nerdy tendency to get fixated on something - like I have been with global warming and carbon cutting information.
I have collected so many facts and figures, and have been having a hard time summarizing them for the blog, but now that I have a deadline, they are coming together! The problem has been that I keep collecting more and more information, and some days when I've sat down at the computer to write an entry, I end up spending an hour following links from one fact to the next, trying to uncover the source of the facts.
By the time I reach the source (usually a published scientific journal article or data from a Department of Energy report), I have to hurry to get to work, and don't have time to write an entry!
