Windows Damage

We received the quote for new upstairs windows - it will be about $5000 for the new windows, including installation. That seems like a lot for 6 windows, but this is an old house, and they are very large windows.

We'll get a $500 tax rebate next year when we file our 2007 taxes, so that helps a bit.

We decided to go with Andersen Windows instead of Marvin. Not because of anything related to the actualy windows, but because the local Andersen sales guy impressed us as being very professional -- that, and the fact that the Marvin guy didn't call us back...

The windows should be installed before the end of June, so we will actually be able to open our upstairs windows this summer without having to put books in them to hold them open (because the ropes have broken on several of them and they won't stay up themselves).

It's always sad for me to say goodbye to something that is 100 years old, but I guess I just have to console myself with thinking about how the windows had a long life....
