Window Search begins & no time to waste!
Today, Tom & I will be meeting with the area Marvin Window dealer to see what our options are, and to get an estimate. Tomorrow, Tom will be visiting the Anderson Window showroom near where he works to do the same thing there. We'll let you know what we find out.
I did some quick math last night. We recently replaced the light bulbs that we use the most with flourescent bulbs - that's a total of 7 bulbs. That adds up to a reduction of about 700 pounds of carbon a year and an energy savings of around $70 a year - not bad for a $14 investment! And, that's nearly 2% of the goal!
A few facts to motivate you to act now!
A couple of days ago I heard that Stephen Hawking - brilliant physicist - commented that the human race had better figure out how to colonize space because we are destroying our planet. Now, as far as I can tell, Dr. Hawking is not a pessimist of any kind. When I look at the physical challenges he has managed in his life, I have to conclude that this is a "can-do" kind of person! So he's looking at the world today and saying "we're screwed" - that seems a pretty dire sentence for humanity.
Yesterday, my brother sent me a short blurb saying that the Arctic (north pole) ice is melting at a dramatically faster rate than the International Panel on Climate Change predicted just a short time ago.
The polar bears are counting on us - no time to waste!
